EMERGENT TODDLER
Program
Our Emergent Toddler program offers care for children from 12 months to 2 years old. These ages are approximate because studio transitions are ultimately based on child development. Children entering this studio should be developmentally ready for a single nap, steady classroom routine, should need only one to two or less daytime bottles and should be crawling, or walking. We begin standing changes (diaper changes in the upright position) to help children prepare for potty training. Our compassionate and creative teachers will provide your youngsters with safe age appropriate works, and nature focused new experiences. Morning meeting and independent work time will be conducted every morning during program time from 8:30 am-11:30 am. Children will have the opportunity to learn through a variety of materials cohesive with the theme of the week. Activities will be provided that incorporate large and small muscle development, practical life, art, and sensorial focus areas. Developmentally appropriate Montessori works will be introduced into the classroom for children to master and Teachers will take anecdotal records and keep a progress report to track each Child's progress. Your Child will take part in art, music and movement, yoga, and sensorial and dramatic play enrichment activities every afternoon.
TODDLER
Program
Our Toddler program is for children ages 2-3 years old and runs through the school year. We focus on fostering children’s love of curiosity and learning. Our Montessori inspired curriculum incorporates the “whole child” approach. Our classroom leverages toddlers natural drive to act independently through a prepared environment with self-correcting activities. This insures that children can learn at their own pace and about the things they find most intriguing, allowing them to develop to their full potential as independent, critical thinkers. Toddler age children will have the opportunity to play and explore their surroundings through nature based and self-correcting Montessori and pre-Montessori materials. They will be given many learning experiences in a variety of developmental areas that are age appropriate. Daily activities will include math, science, large and small muscle development, art, sensorial, practical life and literacy. New Montessori works will be introduced and demonstrated in the classroom for children to explore as they become developmentally ready. Additional enrichment activities will also be offered on a regularly scheduled weekly basis including yoga, cooking, music & movement & nature exploration. Teachers will complete observation based progress reports and conferences will be held two times each school year so that parents have a solid grasp on how their child is progressing.
EMERGENT PRIMARY & PRIMARY
Programs
Our 3K Emergent Primary Program is for children age 3 by September 1st who are potty trained, and our 4K Primary Program is for children who are 4 years old by September 1st. Both programs are Montessori based programs in which we emphasize outdoor learning and nature inspired activities while preparing your child for Kindergarten. The Primary Program students share the classroom with Kindergarten students enrolled in our Charter School New Leaf Prep Academy. Our classroom is set up so children can be independent learners. More advanced works are introduced as children become developmentally ready. The classroom has areas for Practical Life skills, Sensorial, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Culture. We also have dedicated space for dramatic play and Art. Activities in each area get progressively more complex building as the child works their way through the curriculum. Uninterrupted work-time is another hallmark of the Montessori philosophy that is incorporated in our program, and gives children the time they need to focus on a task until they feel it is complete. CAMP
New Leaf
We will spend the summer immersed in nature with our campers! Camp New Leaf is composed of 3 different levels sure to make your child’s summer one to remember at any age! Our summer camp features field trips, water days & special nature exploration activities to help your child build on their agility and survival skills! Your child will also be busy helping to grow, harvest & prepare their own food as well as other activities cohesive with survival, homesteading, & practical life! Camp New Leaf is open to any students enrolled for the upcoming school year in either the Preschool or at New Leaf Prep Academy that are 3-12 years old.
